Marc Gruber / Solo Horn Frankfurt Radio Orchestra











Marc Christian Gruber, born in 1993, received his musical training from Prof. Joachim Pöltl in Düsseldorf and Prof. Paul van Zelm in Cologne.

He is a multiple prizewinner in the “Jugend Musiziert” competition. He has also been a scholarship holder of the renowned Mozart Society Dortmund since 2013 and was a prizewinner at the Lions European Musical Competition in 2014.
In 2016 he won second prize at the ARD international music competition, as well as the audience prize in the horn category.

As a soloist, he has appeared with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Symphonieorchester Berlin, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and the Württemberg Chamber Philharmonic Reutlingen, with whom he released his debut CD as a soloist in 2014.

As a chamber music partner, Marc Gruber has performed with well-known ensembles and soloists at international festivals. With the Monet Wind Quintet he received a scholarship and special prize at the German Music Competition in 2016. He also won third prize at the Concours international de musique du chambre Lyon with the same quintet in 2017.
He was solo horn player of the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn for 2 years and has been employed in this position by the Hessian Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2016.

He also regularly acts as a substitute for large orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich State Opera, the WDR and NDR Symphony Orchestras, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Orkest Amsterdam.
