Rudi Korp – Trumpet & Brass Ensembles

Rudolf Korp began his trumpet studies under his father at the Conservatory of Innsbruck, where he finished with the highest marks and special distinctions.
He continued his studies at the Musikhochschule Wien under Adolf Holler (principal trumpet of the Vienna Philharmonic).
At the age of 17 he won the first prize in the Jugend Musiziert competition with a special prize from the Bruckner Symphony Orchestra.
From 1983 to 1985 was member of the Bühnenorchester at the Vienna Opera. In 1985 he became solo trumpet of the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna.
He has performed as a soloist with the Symphonic Orchestra Innsbruck, Tonkünstler Orchestra Vienna, and Jeunesse Musicale Orchestra in Linz under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst, among others.
Rudolf Korp has performed and recorded under the direction of Herbert von Karajan, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Leopold Hager, Maris Janssons, James Levine, and Sir George Solti, among others.
In 1990 he became artistic director of the International Competition for Brass Quintet and Horn Quartet in Gmünd, Austria.
Rudolf Korp is a committed trumpet pedagogue, and has given courses for brass ensembles in Austria, Europe, Asia and South America.
In 1986 Rudolf Korp founded the well-known brass quintet Vienna Brass.
Vienna Brass has successfully given concerts in Europe, Asia and America, recorded CDs, television and film soundtracks, and have given many workshops for Brass.
